I think Petsfit Pet Backpack is one of the most popular backpacks in the adventure cat community. We have been using it for a while now and we really really like it! We took it with us on about 2-3 road trips and it’s our main carrier for adventures/ commutes.
This is our second pet backpack; our first one was Pecute Pet Carrier (click here for our review).
I wrote a thorough guide to cat backpacks, check it out!
The good
There are a lot of great features in this cat pack. It’s reliable and sturdy – this backpack can can support a pet up to 22lbs/10kg. Chumka is able to sit on top and watch, which makes hiking easier. He can have a bit of a FOMO so he can have a hard time chilling inside and not being able to see everything.
Your pet is going to be comfortable in the Petsfit Carrier. It’s roomy (12.6 inches Length x 11.4 inches Width x 16.9 inches Height) and it has a firmly reinforced structure to prevent itself from collapsing on your pet while traveling. The removable bottom pad is made with soft fleece which adds to your pet’s comfort. It’s also VERY easy to clean – it can be hand or machine washed.
The backpack can open up from the front and from the top. I let Chumka sit on top of the backpack during adventures, but when we are in situations that he might be anxious – I close the front and keep the top open. That way he can “hide” in the backpack but take a peek if he wants to.
This backpack is also more “insulated” than our previous one which is very helpful for our winter adventures in Canada. I also like that it’s made with breathable materials and it has mesh windows (so far no rips/ tears in the mesh, it is a durable material). The other pack had plastic pieces with couple openings which helped with air circulation but it seemed to cause the inside to heat up.
The not-so-good
It’s not the most affordable pet backpack out there but it’s definitely worth every penny you spend on it. It’s currently priced at USD$65/ CAD$75, so if you’re looking for something more budget friendly – check out Pecute Pet Carrier Backpack; you can read our review on that one here.
The backpack can support up to 22lbs/ 10kg but if you’re hoping to have your kitty sit on top of it – the backpack does “sag”. Unfortunately, we haven’t found a backpack that keeps its shape with a pet on top of it. Our cat sometimes loafs on top of this pack – while we are walking! It really is just aesthetic “problem” and doesn’t damage the product.
I wish there was a bit more room in the pockets, haha. Don’t get me wrong – this backpack fits all of our adventure necessities. But I could always use more “storage space”.
Another more “personal not-so-good” is that the built-in safety belt/leash is on the side of the backpack and not in the center. It seems to be a common thing with pet backpacks that I don’t quite understand. Whenever I hook Chumka to one of them, he can either “half escape” on the belt side, or not able to see much when sitting up. I feel like having the built-in leash in the center could help with that – and the constant tangling lol
Final Words
If you’re looking for a good quality pet backpack that you can use for daily walks/ adventures – and you don’t mind paying a little bit more – then you don’t need to look anymore.
However, if you prefer getting something more budget friendly – check out the Pecute Pet Carrier Backpack.
Hope you enjoyed the post and please give your pet some love from me 🙂💛
