We’ve had Petstages cat puzzle for a while now and our cat really enjoys playing with it. But recently we upgraded to their most advanced (level 3) interactive cat puzzle – “Rainy Day”. Previously we owned their “Buggin Out” ( marked as Level 2) and after a while our cat got really good at it, so we decided to upgrade to the next level. And don’t get me wrong, he still loved it and would get very excited when he heard me reach for it – we just wanted to get him something more challenging to allow his feline instincts to really kick in.
Check out how cute Chumka looks when he’s playing with the puzzle (and the ASMR of him chewing 😍)
The design
This puzzle toy is a fourteen compartment toy that has sliding cylinders with holes on top, raindrop flippers and spinning top to keep your cat engaged. Once you fill the compartments and cylinders with treats, your cat must then move the cylinders away from the flippers, then push the flippers to get to the compartments and move them above the compartments to get the goodies from inside the cylinder. Then finally move the spinning top to reveal even more hidden compartments. You can also use the cylinders to lock the spinning centre from moving to add a more significant challenge.
Different ideas for using this puzzle
We use it after adventures as a little snack, as a grounding exercise, as a distraction when we leave without Chumka, as extra enrichment when we can’t take him out, or to serve him his “bedtime snack”. And speaking of snacking – the puzzle can hold up to ¼ cup of food so you could use this puzzle as their “feeding bowl” – it would be especially beneficial if your cat eats too fast.
Like I said, this is the most advanced version of Petstages interactive cat toys, so you might want to start with Level 2 puzzles – Buggin Out or Melon Madness. All of the puzzles are designed to progressively increase its difficulty as your cat figures out “the riddle”.
Hope you enjoyed the article and please give your pet some love from me 🙂
